News (January 2009)

I am on the job hunt looking for a position where I can help future teachers learn how to set up place-based inquiry learning environments, and continue researching how emerging technologies can aid in learning. If you know of a job opportunity that sounds like it would fit me, please send me a note.

I am also finalizing my dissertation, and trying keep my papers page and curriculum vita (resume) roughly up-to-date. The gist of what I look at is on my research page.

And, as always, I'm thinking about how to apply it all as I prepare for my 16th year helping to run a deep woods camp in Maine called Flying Moose Lodge. Your 10-16 year old boy might like it there.

Who am I?

My name is John Martin, and I am a doctoral student in the Educational Communications and Technology area in the department of Curriculum and Instruction at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, with a minor in Learning Sciences and part of the Games, Learning, and Society group.

Current Research: AR Games

I am currently crafting a dissertation tentatively titled "Learning in Place: Locative Technologies and Handheld Augmented Reality Games" under Dr. Kurt Squire. You can read about our approach to Augmented Reality (AR) technology and games on my AR page.
